Our Services
When standard treatments haven’t been enough
Breakthrough Therapeutics offers medically supervised, sub-anesthetic IV ketamine care for people who have not found adequate relief through traditional mental health treatments. Our approach is thoughtful, closely monitored, and built around you from your first conversation through each step of care.
What we offer
Care built around you
We see one person at a time so our full attention is on you. Here’s how we can help.
Consultation & evaluation
A thorough review of your medical history to confirm ketamine is safe and appropriate, and to build a plan around your goals.
IV ketamine infusion
Our core treatment: a carefully measured, sub-anesthetic dose delivered by IV in a calm, private room while we monitor you closely.2
Maintenance & integration
After an initial series, some people continue with occasional maintenance visits. We help you reflect on each session and track your progress over time.
Self-pay practice. Insurance does not cover ketamine treatment for mental health conditions, so all care is self-pay and handled directly at the time of service.
How it’s given
How ketamine is administered here
Our established protocol typically consists of a series of six ketamine treatments. Each infusion appointment is scheduled for two hours, allowing time for both the infusion and recovery. Additional maintenance sessions may be recommended based on your individual needs, and these can occur once every three to six months.
Where clinically appropriate, an intramuscular (IM) option may be used. Your clinician will discuss what fits you best at your first visit.
We provide on-site administration only. For your safety, we do not offer at-home ketamine in any form. Because ketamine is sedating, you’ll need a responsible adult to drive you home, and we’ll make sure you’re comfortable and oriented before you leave.

Safety & what to expect
Clear about the medicine, careful with your care
We want you to know exactly what treatment involves before you decide. Ketamine is a treatment, not a cure, and it works best when you know what to expect.
What the experience feels like
At the doses we use, ketamine can cause a temporary dissociative effect: a dreamlike sense of feeling detached from your body or surroundings, sometimes with altered sound, color, or sense of time. It’s expected, it’s temporary, and it fades as the medicine wears off. A member of our clinical team is there to support you the entire time.
Possible side effects
Ketamine is generally well tolerated under medical supervision. Side effects can include:
- A temporary rise in blood pressure and heart rate
- Dissociation and altered perception
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness or unsteadiness
- Drowsiness or sedation
- Blurred or double vision
- Headache
- Anxiety, restlessness, or emotional distress during the session
Most side effects resolve shortly after the infusion or can be managed with medications available at the clinic.
How we monitor you
Your blood pressure, heart rate, and blood-oxygen level are checked before, during, and after your infusion, and a member of our clinical team observes you continuously. Emergency medications and equipment are kept on site. Most people are observed for about 45 minutes after treatment before heading home.
Getting home safely
You may not drive yourself home after an infusion. You’ll need a responsible adult to drive you. Don’t drive, operate machinery, or make important or legal decisions until at least the morning after your infusion, and plan to rest for the remainder of the day.
Is ketamine a controlled medication?
Yes. Ketamine is a Schedule III controlled substance, which means it has recognized medical uses and a potential for misuse or dependence. That’s one reason we provide it only on-site, under medical supervision, and never for use at home.
Who ketamine may not be right for
A full evaluation determines whether treatment is safe for you. We generally cannot treat people with:
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure
- Significant heart disease, or a history of heart-rhythm problems, heart attack, or stroke (unless cleared by a cardiologist)
- Active psychosis or a psychotic disorder
- Current ketamine use disorder, or a history of ketamine misuse or ketamine-related bladder injury
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding

The Breakthrough Therapeutics approach
Therapist-guided support (optional)
As part of your treatment, you may choose to work with Natalie Kohlhaas, our collaborating therapist experienced in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). She can remain with you during treatment, helping you safely explore emotions, memories, and insights as they arise.
Research suggests that combining ketamine with psychotherapy may deepen and extend its benefits. You may also work with your own KAP-trained therapist.
Integration for lasting change
The ketamine experience is only one part of the process. After each treatment, you can meet with your therapist for integration sessions to explore insights and apply them to your ongoing therapy goals.
A collaborative care model
Breakthrough Therapeutics provides the medical evaluation, ketamine treatment, and medical monitoring. Psychotherapy and integration are provided independently by a licensed KAP therapist. Therapy is a separate service; pricing and billing are handled directly by the therapist.
